Garden peas are the most common variety of pea – it’s these peas that are frozen, canned, and dried, as well as used fresh. Garden peas come in small pods, with the peas removed from the pod before cooking. Garden peas are typically cooked on their own as a vegetable dish, or added to soups and casseroles. They’re available all year round.
