Passionfruit are a delicious tropical indulgence, great on their own or used in recipes. The regular variety are about the size of a plum, with slightly wrinkled dark purple skin. Inside, the pulp is a golden-orange colour, with masses of small black edible seeds, and a tropical, sweet-acidic taste. Available in Australia all year round, passionfruit are delicious enjoyed on their own, or added to salads, desserts and sauces.

Look for passionfruit that feel slightly heavy for their size. Their skin should feel relatively thick, and be slightly wrinkled (Panama and Hawaiian passionfruit will have smoother skin).
To Store
You can store passionfruit at room temperature for up to 1 week, or store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
To Prepare
Use a sharp knife to cut passionfruit in half, then either enjoy straight from the skin or scoop out the pulp for use in cooking.
