Pink grapefruit are a rosey-hued relative of the yellow grapefruit. They are similar in shape and size to the yellow grapefruit, but their skin is orange coloured, with a rosy pink blush. Pink grapefruit flesh is pink to red in colour, and is divided into segments by thin white membranes. The flesh is juicy and sweet, with a slight citrus acidity. Available all year round, pink grapefruit are great eaten fresh on their own, or in salads, drinks, sorbets.

Look for grapefruit that feel relatively heavy for their size, with shiny yellow-orange and the distinctive pink blush. Avoid very soft grapefruit, or those with slightly wrinkled skin.
To Store
Store grapefruit at room temperature for up to 7 days, or store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
To Prepare
Halve grapefruit then either juice or use a small sharp knife to cut between the flesh and white membrane, so that the fruit segments can be lifted out easily to eat.
